House Type/Structure - Basement Entry/Raised Bungalow

The basement entry, at first glance, appears to be a two-storey home. In reality, it is a raised bungalow. The main living areas are on the upper level while the basement containing the main entrance is at ground level.

This if often the most suitable design for low delta lands where excavation is unfeasible ad an initially low building cost is desired with opportunity for future expansion.

It is also an excellent choice for sites which slope dup from the street. Raising the living areas not only takes advantage of any view, but it would also provide direct access from the main floor to the rear of the property.

For whatever reason this style of home represents a compromise aimed at satisfying those who desire the convenience of a one level plan, plus the advantages of a fully serviceable above ground basement.
